Guangzhou's Wuthering Waves Clocks Players' Voice at The Game Awards 2025
Wuthering Waves, the open‑world action title developed and published by Guangzhou's Kuro Games, secured the Players' Voice Award at The Game Awards (TGA) 2025 on December 12. This accolade, coming from one of the gaming industry’s most influential global ceremonies, marks a notable milestone for Chinese game development on the world stage, following last year’s recognition of Black Myth: Wukong.
The award underscores both Kuro Games’ strength and Guangdong’s rising prominence in the international gaming arena. Even before its worldwide release, Wuthering Waves had already been nominated for Best Mobile Game and Players' Voice in 2024, signaling strong early traction with players around the world. A Kuro Games representative said the team is deeply honored by players’ trust worldwide and pledged to keep enriching the game with more content and refined experiences. They also expressed hope that more Chinese games—especially those from Guangdong—will reach global audiences.
Since its official global launch in 2024, Wuthering Waves has demonstrated impressive market performance. It topped the App Store free charts in 107 countries and regions and reached the top 10 in the bestseller lists across numerous major markets. Its strong reception comes from compelling storytelling and character design, ongoing technical innovation, and top‑tier production quality. Over the past year, the game has earned major awards spanning narrative, technology, visuals, audio, and community engagement. In November 2025, it won Google Play’s Best Ongoing Award, and in December it added recognition at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2025, taking home both the Partner Award and the Users' Choice Award.
